Merry Christmas

May this holiday season inspire all of us to give a little of what

we have and to share a little of who we are.

Happy New Year

  Giving Makes You Feel...So Good!

It's hard to believe that 10 weeks have passed since we last gathered together

for the campaign kick-off.  During that time the goal of $1.05 million was Schuylkill United Way sign hangs outside of the 2009 Campaign Appreciation Breakfast at Penn State Schuylkill Campus.

announced and after last year's exhilaration in raising Schuylkill Counties FIRST

$1 million dollar campaign, we all felt certain that we could once again have a victorious year.  After all, WE, residence of Schuylkill County were able to come together to raise that money, it wasn't just handed to us in the form of a

grant - community members gave back so that they could help their friends, family, co-workers, neighbors and community members who are in need of the

16 member agencies that offer their programs and services to Schuylkill County residents for little to no charge.

Giving to others is a very powerful thing that many of the individuals who are a part of the Schuylkill United Way fully appreciate.  Whether these individuals serve on the board of directors, volunteer as division chairman, or facilitate employee campaigns, they selflessly give their blood, sweat and tears year after year all to benefit Schuylkill County.  These are the optimistic people who believe from day one that we could reach our goal and because of those people, Schuylkill County is a better place for countless reasons.

No doubt, times are tough and the future is uncertain, but just knowing that there are selfless individuals here in the county who care enough to make a difference in the lives of others will leave a lasting impression on many.  It's amazing, we raised our first $1 million during 'good' times and we were able to pull it off once again even though the economy is unsecure and many are hesitant.  That's how powerful the Schuylkill United Way individuals are and not too many other communities can say the same!
