Executive Director

Mike Joyce started as Executive Director of Schuylkill United Way in January, 2026, after spending two years as Director of Community Engagement. Prior to joining the staff of SUW, he was a board member for 5 years and a longtime Pacesetter and volunteer. He served as Campaign Chair for the 2023 campaign.

Mike’s career before joining the Schuylkill United Way was in the newspaper industry, where he spent 25 years at the Republican Herald, the last 5 as Publisher.

Mike is from West Chester, Pennsylvania and is a graduate of Shippensburg University. He lives in Pottsville with his wife Janet. They have three children and 8 grandchildren. His ultimate goal is to be the “Best Pop-Pop in the World”!

Director of Marketing & Programs

Becky is proud to have been born and raised in Pottsville. After graduating from Nativity B.V.M. High School, she earned her B.A. in Communications from Marymount University in Arlington, Virginia. She went on to complete two years of service with AmeriCorp in Eastern Kentucky and over the years has lived and worked in Virginia, Kentucky, and Indiana.

Returning home and starting her career with Schuylkill United Way in January 2022, Becky brings over 15 years of experience with non-profit leadership, community development, and marketing. She also completed her M.A. in Organizational Leadership from Gonzaga University in May 2022. Her passion for service drew her to the dynamic mission and team of the Schuylkill United Way. Becky resides in Pottsville with her husband and son.

Jeanie Purcell

Administrative Assistant

Jeanie is a lifelong resident of Schuylkill County and a graduate of Penn State University. Before becoming a part of Schuylkill United Way, she owned a portrait studio for 15 years and served multiple community organizations in various roles through the years.

She enjoys traveling, gardening, and most of all, time with her family: both human and canine.

Jeanie is excited to be a part of an organization that helps the people of Schuylkill County.
